Force India brought home a healthy 10 points from Melbourne after Adrian Sutil’s incredible comeback run to seventh place and Paul di Resta’s canny drive to finish right behind him.

Heading into Malaysia, ensuring the car doesn’t burn up the tires and maximizes aerodynamic grip will help for another strong showing.

“Temperatures are going to be high, degradation is going to be high, but I think our car is going to suit the warm weather,” said di Resta. “We’ve had a reasonably strong performance for the last couple of years in Malaysia, so I think we should go there feeling quite optimistic.”

Sutil had one of his best weekends in F1 in Malaysia three years ago, when he qualified fourth and finished fifth.

“I finished fifth in Malaysia in 2010, so I have some good memories,” he said. “It’s not my favorite track, but it depends on the car. If the car is quick and stable, you enjoy it more, but sometimes you really struggle with the balance, and then it’s a real challenge – the corners are so long, you need a lot of aerodynamic grip.”

The team secured a double points finish in Malaysia last year (di Resta was seventh, Nico Hulkenberg ninth) and has been in the points at the circuit in each of the last three years.

If Sutil is fast again that will certainly be making a statement about the car, and if the weather is indeed awful and he’s still quick then PDR’s ticket to IRL will be signed.

Di Resta needs to counter being shown up in the first race and if he can’t his tenure as #1 driver is done and maybe his F1 career too.
