Team Penske currently has the provisional front row for the 97th Indianapolis 500, with Will Power sitting on the pole as 3 p.m. ET rolled by at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

His teammate, Helio Castroneves, managed to knock Penske rookie A.J. Allmendinger off the provisional pole with a four-lap average of 227.975 miles per hour. But shortly before 3 p.m. ET, Power came out and threw down the gauntlet to his rivals by posting an average of 228.844 mph in his No. 12 Verizon Chevrolet — knocking the three-time “500″ winner off of P1.
