The anticipation continues to build for “Rush,” Ron Howard’s new film chronicling the 1976 Formula One World Championship bout between James Hunt and Niki Lauda.

Monaco is now in the books and with a week off before the next round of the 2013 season in Canada, June 9 live at 2 p.m. ET on NBC, here’s another look at what will be in theaters later this year.

That era is from before my time but I’ve watched enough grainy old films to think these cars in HD just look freaky… like CG freaky, even though I know they used a lot of the real cars and full size replicas for filming. This could be the first film actually worth paying $18 to see.

Also, well done to Ron Howard. I thought his interview during the prerace was one of the highlights, particularly his “shout-out” to the Tri-State area and those of us who can see the race potential of the NJGP and want it to happen. The track just looks sick!!! Even if it’s in New Jersey, lol.
