Sebastien Bourdais’ runner-up trophy shatters (VIDEO)

Jul 13, 2013, 7:12 PM EDT

For Sebastien Bourdais, his return to an IndyCar podium was a long time coming. The Dragon Racing driver, who finished second in today’s first race of the Honda Indy Toronto doubleheader, hadn’t achieved a podium finish since winning the 2007 Champ Car season finale at Mexico City that completed his run of four consecutive series titles.

Of course, Bourdais was very excited about it and was ready to receive a nice trophy to put on his mantle at home. But as you’ll see in the Victory Lane celebration above, it didn’t quite work out that way.

Nonetheless, it’s probably safe to assume that the Frenchman and his Dragon Racing crew are still all smiles. They can’t celebrate too much, though, as they’ll have to face 85 more laps tomorrow in the second race of the weekend in Toronto (3 p.m. ET, NBC Sports Network).
