Kovalainen set for FP1 outings at Belgium, Italy

Heikki Kovalainen will have his third and fourth free practice 1 outings coming up at the Belgian and Italian Grands Prix for Caterham. He also took the wheel of the CT03-Renault at Bahrain and Spain earlier this year.

The Finn will deputize for Charles Pic this weekend before taking over for Giedo van der Garde at Monza in a couple weeks.

Caterham’s made significant gains over the course of the year and have pulled away from fellow tail-ender Marussia, but do not yet have a better result to eclipse Marussia for 10th in the Constructor’s Championship. Kovalainen’s input should be able to help push the team a little bit further, even if it will still take a lottery for Caterham to finish in the top 10 or 12.

Still shocked he hasn’t got VDG’s seat! Especially as they are trailing Marussia for that $10million payday for finishing 10th in the Constructors. Anyone else think it’s terrible that only one team won’t get a piece of the revenue?

Happy to read this nice article about Heikki, but can someone at NBCSports tell me why my local listings (comcast, northeast) don’t include LIVE showing of Quali and the Race? I like the Prems (EPL) coverage as much as the next guy, but tape-delayed F1 is NOT acceptable! (obv the western fans should have a replay)

Please kindly get your shit together or I’ll be cancelling my cable and paying for SKYHD online: which sucks compared to our analysis but has the extra benefit of being LIVE and commercial free!!!

    Hi Apex,

Respectfully, the times for all of this weekend’s NBCSN F1 coverage are listed in this post here: ( with more than 20+ hours of coverage over the weekend. The qualifying is live streamed on NBC Sports Live Extra and the race is live on NBCSN, Sunday at 7:30 a.m. ET. Some local carriers opt not to show the race at the live time and this sometimes depends on markets. Thank you for watching and for your support and comments.

Thank you for taking the time to respond Tony!

Please let the decision makers know at least one fan finds this preposterous on “Home of Open Wheel Racing” as NBC likes to call itself. I live in one of the major markets and can’t believe the Greatest Race of the Year isn’t being shown live.

The race is live, qualifying got bumped but they’re putting live live online and you got to admit we get it pretty good with NBC considering F1 racing isn’t exactly top of the totem pole here in the US.
