Tempers flare between Keselowski, Kyle Busch after NNS crash at Kansas

Matt Kenseth won the NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Kansas Speedway, but the bigger story from today’s event could stretch into tomorrow’s Sprint Cup race at the 1.5-mile oval.

That’s because on Lap 188 of 200, Kyle Busch got into the back of Brad Keselowski coming off of Turn 4 and sent him spinning into the front-stretch wall, rear end first.

Once Keselowski hopped out of his damaged No. 22 Penske Racing Ford, he ran across the infield grass while pointing toward Busch’s pit box then took a left and jogged toward the infield care center. Afterwards, Keselowski proceeded to rip Busch verbally.

“I got wrecked by a dirty driver,” Keselowski said. “There is no other way of putting it. He is cool with that. I have raced him really cool over the last year to be respectful to him and try to repair our relationship. I’ve watched him wreck my trucks and keep me from winning races. He put me in the fence in Chicago in the truck race and the Nationwide races, he has been pulling this crap.

“It is not gonna last, I can tell you that. I feel bad for the guys next to me that are going to have to fix his stuff. That is going to be part of racing and they are going to have to deal with it.”

According to the Associated Press, Busch maintained that his No. 54 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota simply got tight coming off the corner, which forced the car to move up into Keselowski.

“It was hard racing,” Busch told the AP. “There were a lot of moments where I may be felt a little crowded. The contact that ultimately ended it, I just got real tight.”

One has to wonder if Keselowski will be out for revenge during tomorrow’s Hollywood Casino 400 at Kansas, the fourth race in the 2013 Chase for the Sprint Cup. If so, that could be trouble for Busch, who sits third in the Chase at 12 points behind teammate Matt Kenseth.

“He has a lot more to lose than I do,” Keselowski said per the AP. “I guess that’s the good thing about not being in the Chase.”

As for the NNS title battle, Austin Dillon has taken over the points lead with a sixth-place result this afternoon. He now leads the NNS standings by eight points over Sam Hornish Jr., who finished 17th after tagging the wall earlier in the race.

KYLE BUSCH is the dirtiest driver in racing,it’s just a matter of time until someone gives him the ASS WHIPPIN he needs.JIMMY DID IT TO HIS SISTER KURT,time to adjust his attitude the same way!!!!! how can anyonelike this sonofabitch??

  3. chelbelle64 - Oct 5, 2013 at 11:36 PM

It was cheap shot by Kyle and the second of the day. I applaud Brad for having the balls to stand up for himself despite possible NASCAR penalties .

    • jobber33 - Oct 6, 2013 at 1:06 AM

while brad has had his share of stupid things he’s done on the track, kyle can’t figure out why when at daytona or talladega he can’t get any other driver to work with him. he IS one day going to seriously hurt someone because he believes every driver should just pull over when they see him behind them. He will wreck a guy 5 laps into a 200 lap race, then complain and whine if someone gets loose going into a turn and bumps his car. the busch boys will never stop. kurt was ok the past couple of years with not blaming the pit crew for every little mistake and taking blame himself but since he signed a multi-year deal with stewart he is back to his old ways.

    • lhess22 - Oct 6, 2013 at 1:26 AM

brad is an ass, a true crybaby… he will never get anywhere in NASCAR bcuz of his ability to bitch whine and cry… boo hoo crieslowski

      • jobber33 - Oct 6, 2013 at 2:02 AM

nobody in nascar cries more than the busch boys. they have no problem wrecking guys in the first 5 laps of a race but heaven forbid any bump them and put a mark on their cars. you can add jeff gordon to the crying list. brad will do his share but the busch get the title of crying in nascar.

Kyle a dirty Driver or better Driver? Look at just one stat to answer that, Wins. Kyle 12 (8 Nationwide, 4 CUP) this year, Brad 0 ( regardless of which series you look at). Brad was the champion last season, this year all he did was whine that this or that was against him. As a champion, everyone is coming for you. Suck it up.

    • bmcgrath2 - Oct 6, 2013 at 1:24 AM

Brad doesn’t have 0 wins “regardless of which series you look at.”

He has 5 Nationwide wins so far in 2013.

    • jobber33 - Oct 6, 2013 at 1:28 AM

going by championships which is the way everyone measures athletes, brad is the better driver with 1 nationwide and 1 cup title. kyle only has 1 nationwide title. kyle gets wins yes but once the chase starts, he seems to disappear. He has also lost his job with hendrick because he doesn’t care about wrecking someone elses cars but will cry every time someone bumps his car or wrecks one of his cars. nascar always seem to throw ok mystery caution flags if kyle or jimmie are on second with no chance of catching the leader giving them a chance for the win.

kyle busch is still a very dirty driver and anyone that can’t see that is blind. even a newcomer to racing could see that busch did it on purpose. he should atleast be docked owner points. kyle tried to say that he had more class then to do things to other people. the only class kyle has is low class. how many times has he dump kasey kahne and all the other drivers. i do hope he does get dumped by brad. kyle has it coming too

    • troygaugler - Oct 6, 2013 at 8:09 AM

kyle has a boatload of ASS WHIPPINS coming his way,I can’t wait to see who gets tired of his mouth & puts the PUNK in the pits for good! he has so much talent as a driver if he could only pull his head out of his ass & drive like the professional that he claims to be. he just might gain a little respect from the other drivers. who knows he could even get a few racing fans to like him?

  6. wopp22 - Oct 6, 2013 at 12:41 AM

Why don’t they keep the Cup drivers out of Nationwide, they are taking the top purse monies from the Nationwide drivers who need money, they don’t have the finances or crews to compete against them. Just look at how many races have that Cup drivers have won or placed in the top 5. Plus some use it as their own personal playground to settle grudges and cause incident which take out Nationwide drivers who are in the running for the Championship. I what to watch Nationwide Racing without the Cup drivers

    • lhess22 - Oct 6, 2013 at 1:30 AM

I totally agree with keeping cup drivers out of Nationwide. they have no business in both. pick one or the other.

    • jobber33 - Oct 6, 2013 at 2:08 AM

money, it’s all about money. nascar says it’s to give the nationwide a challenge but no one goes to the nationwide races when the cup drivers aren’t in it they say. attendance is down at all races the past few years. it used to take a few years to get tickets at dayton, bristol, indy, talledega . now you can get tickets a few weeks before the race. i personally would rather not see the cup guys there but nascar doesn’t care what the fans think.

      • tennoutdrsman1 - Oct 6, 2013 at 9:19 AM

That is SO True…The 3 that gave you a Thumbs Down..Well..Maybe that’s the ones who keep stinking up the Nationwide Races EVERY week and Driving Fans away..hmmm.

    • billyholland45 - Oct 6, 2013 at 11:42 AM

I have said that Sprint cup racers should not be able to compete with nation Wide racers. It would be like letting pro ball players come in and play collage sports. And you are right they are taking all of the good money from the nation wide teams.

  7. theracefan - Oct 6, 2013 at 6:57 AM

First of all neither driver had any business in a NW race period. However “I’m so pure” Busch did wreck Brad K It was intentional. NASCAR again played selective rules and let the ever whining Busch go free. There should have been a black flag instantly but Brain Dead France doesn’t have the balls to penalize his pets (Jimmy and Kyle) Penalize Jimmie and he would lose his financial support (bribe money) from Hendrick and penalize Kyle and Toyota would take away his complimentary Lexus. It’s all about the money and France has plenty of that but greed keeps him wanting more and he is willing to cheat to get it.

    • billyholland45 - Oct 6, 2013 at 11:47 AM

You are so correct. Brian France, NASCAR, & Having drivers hold back and block so their team mates can win races is emptying the seats at the races and turning the channels. It used to be a pure sport where every team raced against the others for the win.

  8. tennoutdrsman1 - Oct 6, 2013 at 9:16 AM

AND..NASCAR will Poor water on this ratings Maker…”Now Brad,if you DO ANYTHING to Crybaby KYLE we WILL Fine you and Ban you!!! Now Go out there and play nice and help us keep Killing this sport that once was known for RIVALRIES,TOUGH MEN,DIRTY RACING (Dale Sr) and packed the Tracks with Fans…Now get along lil Racecar Driver..get Along…” *Rolls Eyes*

    • gowhitten - Oct 11, 2013 at 1:06 PM

And Dale Sr, got his didn’t he? (PS – I like Dale Jr.)

  9. mscougar116 - Oct 6, 2013 at 2:25 PM

Punk keselowski is 1 of the biggest cry babies in Nascar and will never grow up. All the ppl that wanna bad mouth Rowdy Busch must not know a real driver when they see 1 or they wouldn’t bad mouth the best talented driver. All of you must be whiney stewart dale jr and whiney harvick or cry baby keselowski lovers. That just proves u don’t know a good driver. I’m a #1 Rowdy Busch Fan and for all that don’t like him know where they can go!!! Goooo Rowdy Busch!! Give punk keselowski what he deserves and that’s a real ass beatin on and off the track.
