Outgoing Mercedes team principal Ross Brawn is looking ahead to a six-month sabbatical before deciding upon continuing his career in Formula One.
“I want to clear my mind, take a rest and then decide if I want to return to F1, subject of course to any opportunities existing,” Brawn told BBC F1 writer Andrew Benson.
Best known for helping Michael Schumacher attain his seven world titles and for winning the 2009 title with Jenson Button through his own Brawn GP team, Brawn opted to leave despite efforts from Mercedes to keep him on board. Toto Wolff and Paddy Lowe are now set to lead the Brackley side starting next year.
As for Brawn’s future, many F1 followers believe he will be using the free time to plan out his next move.
He’s already been linked to possible roles with teams such as Williams and McLaren (the latter’s chairman, Ron Dennis, confirmed to the BBC that he has talked with Brawn), incoming engine manufacturer Honda, and even the FIA itself.
