Simona de Silvestro has her first F1 seat fit complete

Apr 8, 2014, 11:45 AM EST

No need to add too much to this picture, as tweeted out by new Sauber affiliated driver Simona de Silvestro.

Boom. Can’t get that F1 career started without a seat fit. No official date has been set for her first test, although NBC Sports Group’s F1 pit reporter and insider Will Buxton tweeted this out this morning.

Long Beach this weekend will see the talented Swiss absent from the streets for only the second time since 2006. She raced in Formula Atlantic in 2007 and 2008, and won the latter race for her first U.S. and series victory. In four IndyCar starts from 2010-2013, she posted a best finish of ninth last year.

I’m really disappointed I won’t see her at Long Beach this year. With this seat fitting, she now only has to rely on 4 other drivers being dropped, and the team to stay solvent, to get back into a race car one that’s at the bottom of the grid and not exactly reliable either. Still questioning this career move.

I am jazzed that Simona took the gamble.

She could take the less competitive car and show some people in F1 she deserves better.

She would never get that chance staying in American racing.

Unfortunately there are more talented drivers than available seats and it’s only going to get worse. Good luck to Simona. It would be great to see her do well in F1.
