So, not even a month ago, three-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion Tony Stewart joined Twitter. Some dismissed it as a publicity stunt, but he’s already used the social media platform to make one major bit of news.

On Monday, he returned to a sprint car for the first time since his accident last August where he broke his leg and it cost him the rest of the 2013 NASCAR season.

Stewart said he’d return and Monday’s test was the first step to his comeback, for what will be a reduced slate of dirt races.

Stewart posted a number of pictures of the test after he got out, then wrote: “Thank you to Rusty Rush and everyone @rushtruckcenter for helping me. This was a huge day for me. 9 1/2 months since I’ve been in one.”

We’ll let “Smoke’s” picture tweets tell the rest of the story.

Tony is a racer, good on him. I can’t wait for all the nascar fans to come in here and complain about how unsafe this is.
