Le Mans: Audi “welcomes back” Porsche to LMP1 (VIDEO)

Jun 6, 2014, 9:59 AM EDT

No words. Just brilliance.

Leave it to Audi – who’ve won all bar two 24 Hours of Le Mans from 2000 through 2013 – to offer a “welcome back” message to rival Porsche ahead of this year’s Le Mans.

A class act from the manufacturer that has set the bar so high these last dozen-plus years.

Actually even with Audi’s success they have a longs ways to go to ever be compared to Porsche’s racing success. That is not meant to disparage Audi who has done very well in recent years, it’s just a means to put their results in perspective to Porsches.

It’s good that Porsche is back and I hope the two marques are able to fight for top honors though it seems a bit odd for the parent company VW Ag to compete against themselves so to speak. Maybe it will bring out the best in both companies? Audi thinks quite highly of themselves and actually hates being associated with the parent company VW. Had VW not of purchased Audi years ago, Audi would not exist today so Audi should be thankful and respectful of the opportunity they have been given.
