Two NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champions have birthdays today – even as they’re at different stages of their career.

Jeff Gordon turns 43; the four-time champion is driving and putting together one of the best seasons of his 20-plus year career. He’s fresh off a win at the Brickyard 400 – his fifth there – two weeks ago, and currently leads the points standings.

Meanwhile Kurt Busch turns 36, and the 2004 champ is enjoyed a career resurgence after two years rebuilding his career with midlevel teams. He has a win at Martinsville earlier this year and despite a series of struggles and results, is poised to make the Chase for the Sprint Cup for the second straight year and first with Stewart-Haas Racing.

Busch has also been in the news this year for his double on Memorial Day weekend; he finished sixth and took home rookie-of-the-year honors at the Indianapolis 500, but failed to finish the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte with an engine issue.

We wish them both the best the rest of this year and going forward.
