VIDEO: Max Verstappen crashes during Rotterdam show run

Aug 31, 2014, 11:00 AM EDT

Just two weeks after being confirmed as a Toro Rosso driver for the 2015 Formula 1 season, Max Verstappen has made a far from ideal start to life with the team.

During a show-run in Rotterdam in his native Netherlands, Verstappen appeared to have a bit of trouble when trying to impress the crowds that had come out to see him.

As you’ll see in the video above, he had to be wheeled away from the wall by marshals before crashing the car just a few seconds later, albeit without a great force.

At the age of just 16, Verstappen’s quick promotion to Formula 1 has raised some questions, with many believing him to be too young. The team is yet to confirm whether today’s incident was a result of a car problem or simply driver error, but it is unlikely to have done his cause a great deal of good.

He definitely did not appear to be use to this car and it bit him. He must have been trying to adjust something when he basically coasted into the barrier. NOT a good start for sure.

Posh,Max simply had a brain fart.

    It happens.

Especially when you are bred from a child to do everything to take care of the equipment and the publicity guys come up and tell you to go out with a supremely expensive F1 show car and tear up a few donuts for the crowd.

The mistake was sending Max out when he’s had so little actual time in the car in the first place to hot dog it on a really tight course where he can crunch the car up really easily if he gets it wrong.

Anyone think of letting the kid do this for a few days in the company parking lot with this car before they sent him out in front of crowds?

Max ,don’t let this little thing get to you.

Brilliance awaits, give yourself a break, you will find it,I am sure.
